Synopsis

Analytics has been at the core of enabling the video experience from the very beginning.  As video technology has evolved, so has our ability to measure its performance.  We have seen four ages of video analytics:

  1. The human visual system and Quality of Experience (QoE)
  2. Evaluating QoE in TV distribution
  3. Optimizing Quality of Service (QoS)
  4. Streaming Analytics and quality of transaction

Now we entered a Fifth Age of analytics, which complements the quest to increase revenue for each legitimate stream by seeking to stem revenue lost to pirates who are hoping to profit from illegal redistribution.
